I am working currently on a few cold cases that I am struggling with. Katrina left her mark in so many ways on the South
that even now, she still tries to defy our will.
I am working on the case of an Unidentified White Female, killed in a tragic accident May 8,
1998.
She was hit in the middle of the night (between 2 and 3 a.m.) by a group
in a Green Mitsubishi who
thought they hit a deer and went on as if it were nothing. About 10:40 a.m. later that morning,
when a truck driver discovered her body. This happened on I-10 near exit 2, Mile Marker 4 in Hancock County, MS.
After hearing about the woman being hit, the subjects came forward and took responsibility.
This woman has been inquired about many times, sadly none of those inquiries were fruitful.
Her Bio As We Know It:
Estimated Age: 37-42
Approximate Height/Weight: 5'3 1/2, 130-135 lbs
Hair: 16-18" long, curley reddish brown w/ touch of grey at the temples. Her natural color is
brown, but she had it died.
Eyes: Uniquely colored Grey eyes
Identifying Marks would include:Vaccination scar on left arm, Old hysterotomy scar from
a C-section from her naval to her pubis.
She has given birth atleast twice, maybe more. Her ears were not pierced and there was no sign
of blood or aclohol in her system.
She suffered Black Lung Disease, emphysema, and chronic bronchitis.
Here are some pictures of what she looked like when she was found, and a sketch of what she probably
looked like before she was hit. Please take a close look at both, do you recognize this woman. Can you help me give her a
name?

Possibilities?
Well, I think I might know who this woman is, I have tried unsuccessfully thus far to contact Jefferson Parish about
a missing person by the name of Tina Ledet.

Any information contact Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office,
Criminal Investigation Division-A/C
Since I have tried multiple times to contact the officer on file for this case without success I have moved my efforts
to trying to contact Hancock Co. and have made some progress. Detective Hurt is looking to see what he can find on my accident
victim but Katrina may have took all evidence with her of this womans existence. The coroner is also trying to find her records
but is sure that Katrina took hers as well. One simple thing could tear my theory apart, that is if someone could please contact
me that has knowledge of Ms. Ledet and tell me if she suffered from black lung or not I would be able to move on.
If you look at the sketch, they look pretty similiar, but in the pictures... not so much so. But if you look closely
at the picture, compare the features, the length of the nose, the flare of the nostrils etc. the features begin to come together.
I have gone over this with a friend who is an ex investigator and he also feels there is a good chance these women could be
one in the same, however getting the information we need to prove or disprove the theory is getting to be quite the wall hitter
for me.
The worse thing for me about this case is not that I won't be solving the case before graduation, but that May will make
the tenth anniversary of this womans death, and she still has no name. It is sad that no one knows who she is and may never
know. I have been trying to locate family for Ms. Ledet, but no luck there either. I have two names, both of whom went missing
after Katrina, so they may well be dead and I may never find anything. If you know any information about my case, about Ms.
Tina Ledet before or after her disappearence, please call me or email me with that information. Anything at all, even the
most minute of things may prove to be helpful beyond words.
UPDATE!! April 2008
Captain Montecino as well as Det. Carver both called to let me know that Ledets prints did not
match my victim.
A detective from JPSO has finally called me back! She is trying to contact the daughter for a DNA Sample
and has ensured me that she would be working with other law officials and not myself on the Ledet case. She is unaware of
any medical history for Ms. Ledet and will try to get that information from the family. She estimates about two weeks before
she can do anything with the case as they are understaffed and have lost alot from the storm as well. She also informed me
that she has had many inquiries on Ledet in recent times and has moved her from cold to pending!
Thank you Detective Carver! of HCSD for contacting Jefferson Parish and getting the ball rolling
as I, a simple student was unable to do!
